To avoid crowds, we prefer traveling outside of peak festival periods. We can also recommend times of the year that will offer you a more exclusive experience in Papua New Guinea.

To travel to Papua New Guinea, you will need a visitor entry permit. Check your eligibility for a single-entry visa on the Immigration and Citizen Authority's website, which you can obtain upon arrival. To enter, you may also need the following:
- Proof of sufficient funds
- Proof of onward or exit travel
- A passport issued within the last ten years
- A passport that is valid for at least six months beyond your return date

All passengers are required to purchase travel insurance before the start of their trip. Your travel insurance details will be recorded by your guide on the first day of the journey. Given the varying nature, availability, and cost of healthcare around the world, travel insurance is an essential and necessary part of every journey.

Most areas will have 4G and international roaming capabilities. Depending on your service provider, it might be better to purchase a local Sim card when in PNG. Ensure you have global roaming activated with your carrier, if you wish to use your phone and mobile service in PNG.

Credit cards are widely accepted in major towns and in the hotels. However, it is also advisable to have local currency when travelling in remote areas to allow for purchasing of goods.

Tipping is not customary in Papua New Guinea; however, if you receive good service, a tip of around 10% is appreciated.

While these festivals may not appeal to everyone, they offer a fantastic opportunity to experience Melanesian cultures at their finest. If you are comfortable with crowds - typically around 100 to 200 other guests at the festivals - we would be happy to discuss the details and help you attend one of these events.
